Guitar Page Header~Don Gallagher and his family have been making Guitars in Wartrace Tennessee since 1965! He says, "Our guitar making is not just a business; it is a way of life." Don's claim to fame (I can vouch for the fact that Don isn't the kind of man who craves fame) is making guitars for Doc Watson. Two Doc Watson models are in the range. Every Gallagher made has been logged and when known, changes in ownership recorded.

These are completely hand made guitars in the American tradition - all built with the highest quality solid tonewoods - from the heart of country country (if you see what I mean). Gallagher G-50~Another great flatpicking dreadnought from Don, this G-50 in spruce and mahogany with ebony fingerboard and bridge and bone nut, b/w/b ivoroid binding and gloss finish. Its a very good price for a hand made American guitar. Strong focussed bass, well defined, vibrant mids and clear bell-like trebles. No wonder Doc Watson plays Gallagher these are the flatpicker's dream machine.~Another great flatpicking dreadnought from Don, this G-50 in spruce and mahogany with ebony fingerboard and bridge and bone nut, b/w/b ivoroid binding and gloss finish. Gallagher Doc Watson Signature~In African mahogany and sitka spruce with ebony fretboard and bridge and a bone saddle, the Doc Watson signature model also has flamed maple bound body, fretboard and headstock and Doc's signature in mother of pearl at the 12th fret. A classic dreadnought from Don Gallagher who has been making guitars for Doc and Merle Watson since 1968, it has an incredibly powerful and well defined bas, strong mids and clear trebles. The bracing is individually voiced on each guitar to produce the legendary Gallagher tone, typical rosewood depth and warmth but with great definition and projection. The bass is dark and rich, mids are warm and well defined, trebles clear and precise.
