Kentucky KM-1000~The re-launched KM-1000 has created quite a stir. Some have claimed it is on a par with small luthiers mandolins, I wouldn't go that far.. Others have claimed that it knocks a more recent arrival on the mandolin scene from China for six.. I couldn't possibly comment except to say its horses for courses and many would back the Kentucky. It features solid, hand-carved and graduated select red spruce top, solid, flat-sawn, hand-carved flamed maple back and sides from Northern Michigan, one-piece maple neck with dovetail neck/body join at the 15th fret, rosewood fingerboard with M.O.P. dot position markers and 29 fret extension over the body, 2 screw truss rod, mother of pearl nut, nickel silver frets, silver-plated engraved tailpiece, Gotoh tuners with removable buttons. An incredible specification and an incredible sound, powerful with amazing projection and balance. There's a rumble at the low end and clarity and attack at the top, a bluegrass cannon, hoss and all the other clichés. With hardshel case.~The re-launched KM-1000 has created quite a stir.
