Guitar Page Header~The history of Stanford Custom Guitars goes back to 1990, when the Czech master luthier Frantisek Furch and the German guitarist and designer Toni Goetz met for the first time, one year after the breakdown of the former socialist wall. Both being passionate musicians, they shared the vision of creating great guitars that meet the highest standards. The ‘Old World’ has always been famous for its great instruments makers. Bohemian (Bohemia is the Western area of the Czech Republic) luthiers have written history including well known names such as John Dopyera, founder of DOBRO guitars. Frantisek says "When we started designing our flat tops, and arch tops, our approach was to connect old values and traditions of craftsmanship with modern technologies in the best way possible.’

Martin Simpson says “We do indeed live in the Golden Age of guitar making- and it’s not just the super expensive instruments which tell us that. Stanford make a range of guitars which would suit all levels from earnest beginner to pro-player. The workmanship and attention to detail is excellent on all these instrument.
