Audey Ratliff is one of the longest established and most respected small builders in the USA. Audey has been making fine bluegrass mandolins in Church Hill, in the shadow of the Smoky Mountains in North Eastern Tennessee since 1982. All of his amazing mandolins are completely hand crafted from the finest materials, solid spruce and flamed maple, ebony fingerboards and bridges, limited numbers are available. In an article in September 2007 Bluegrass Unlimited, Adam Steffey, who was a pupil of Audey's and has owned several of his mandolins said "I think he's still probably the most unrecognised talent at what he does as anybody in the world." Now I've played a Ratliff I couldn't agree more.

Ratliff RA4 antique vintage - SOLD~A stunning A4 from Audey Ratliff, solid spruce top, with beautiful solid maple back that is somewhere between flamed and quilted and an ebony fretboard and bridge. I have learnt since I started TAMCO how different people like different tonal characteristics form their mandolins. I like a very deep and warm bass with rich and sweet mids and clear sparkling trebles. This beauty has that in bucket loads. Its got me thinking about changing my main mandolin again! Made in the heart of bluegrass country by a picker and a player, if Audy doesn't know the bluegrass sound then there ‘aint nobody who does. Remarkable balance and projection, that incredible mid range woof from a chop chord, solid bass and sweet n' clear trebles.
