Mandolin Page Header~Since I started TAMCO at the dawn of this century there have been great changes in the mandolin world. Back in those dark and distant days I struggled hard to find mandolins that fitted in between the beginner factory made instruments at up to £300 and the professional quality hand made, small workshop or individual luthier instruments from a thousand pounds.

I would not have believed then that mandolins of this quality would ever be available at these prices. These J. Boviers are made in one of the smaller units in Korea under the close tutelage of mandolin perfectionist and renowned mando man Jeff Cowherd of Kentucky. They are all set-up in the US by Jeff before coming to TAMCO. There is no better value mandolin available today. J. Bovier A5 standard Hawaiian Sunrise~The Bovier A5 standard has a solid carved Engleman spruce top, solid carved American maple back and sides, radiussed ebony fretboard, adjustable truss rod, Grover tuners, ebony bridge, dovetailed neck joint, mother of pearl headstock logo and position markers and three ply binding. A heck of a lot of mandolin for the money it has the bluegrass chop with more depth than many, resonant bass, strong mids and crisp trebles. J. Bovier A4 deluxe Hawaiian Sunrise~I can claim some credit for this one! When I first got in touch with him, keen to have these Boviers that everyone was talking about, Jeff wasn't offering an A4 oval hole model. The result is spectacular. It has a solid carved Engleman spruce top, solid carved American flamed maple back, gold Grover tuners, mother of pearl headstock logo and position markers, radiussed ebony fretboard, ebony bridge, solid-cast gold tailpiece, adjustable truss rod and three ply binding. It has my beloved oval hole rich, dark and warm bass with loads of resonance, mids are warm and also resonant, trebles are clear and project well. A very lot of mandolin for the money. Plenty of chop with great balance and projection, clear, well defined trebles, sweet mids and solid bass.
