| Gibson A1 1914 | Vintage Mandolin | £995 |
| Buchannan KD1 | Vintage Mandolin | £295 |
| Fylde octavious with pickup | Vintage Mandolin | £395 |
Only one new mandolin arrived this time, Jiri Lebedas loverly J4 with McIntyre feather, (a Lebeda mandola is due soon). But lots of used goodies, we now have ten Gibson A models in stock (and another on its way) six early oval hole models and four later F hole mandos, try them all and see what you like. Despite reservations I am very impressed with the A9, they are known to vary a lot in tone but this one has great cut and solid bass and is in as new condition with a few upgrades..
We’ve got a tatty looking but solid Hoyer, and two folkies for Buchannan and Fylde. We are overflowing with used and vintage mandos right now, a good time to visit if you like someone else to do the playing in.
I finally got to see Simon Mayor play recently. It was at his monthly gig with the mandolinquents in Newbury. What a show, Simon’s mastery of the mandolin in many different styles is amazing. It was well worth 3 hours stuck on the M25, and thanks to Simon et al for the curry.
Guitar News.
| Goodall GC (OM) Sitka/AAAA Koa | Guitar | £3595 |
| Larrivee OM-03 | Guitar | £850 |
| Bourgeois OM sitka/mahogany | Vintage Guitar | £1495 |
| Martin HD28 | Vintage Guitar | £1350 |
| Martin HD-28VS with pickup | Vintage Guitar | £1795 |
| Goodall Traditional OM rosewood/bearclaw spruce | Vintage Guitar | £2395 |
| Taw cedar/cocobolo with pickup | Vintage Guitar | £1495 |
Only two new guitars in this time, but two goodies. The amazing value Larrivee OM-03, all solid woods, great tone and a great price and a grand concert, (AKA OM) in the most spectacular AAAA Koa from James Goodall. Koa is know for its clarity of tone but this one is truly remarkable. Being in Hawaii, the only place that Koa grows, James gets hold of the very best Koa, both aesthetically and tonally, and this is it!
Lots of used goodies for guitarists, Bourgeois (priced to move), two Martins, only our second ever used Goodall and a beautiful custom Brook Taw. We have the best used selection of used we’ve ever had so if this is your cup of tea get down here.
I am expecting a DB Signature model and a BK from Dana Bourgeois, both new models, in the next few weeks, hatch this space.. There will be a Bourgeois review in Acoustic Magazine, aimed at issue 14, probably a Country Boy and DB signature.
I recently saw Clive Carroll for the third time in the last six months, with Simon Mayor’s mandolinquents (above). If you haven’t seen him I would highly recommend travelling as far as you have to to the nearest gig you can find. Clive plays a very eclectic set and is always entertaining between numbers without becoming a bore.
Happy pickin'
Trevor.
