On my recent holiday to visit friends in China Nick managed to locate the Eastman factory outside Beijing’s 6th ring road (!) after several hours of searching! He speaks Chinese, I couldn’t have done it without him. There have been various discussions in various fora about how hand made they are. They are hand made, see the photos on the Eastman mandolin and guitar pages. Tops and backs are completely hand carved from the solid billet, not even roughed out by machine.
No new mandolins in since the last download but the amazing 1915 Gibson F4 is back due to spouse pressure, it's a bit more than last time but still a great deal. And we have two other used mandos, both in fantastic condition, Paul Hathway's rosewood spruce mando with an active pickup is as new, the Gibson A50 is one of the best condition Gibbos we've had, 12 Gibson A medals now in stock spanning over 90 years!!

Pictures are posted on the Eastman guitar pages of the Eastman factory, see mandolin news for more info on my visit. I also saw one of the first flat tops. We are not expecting any for a while as we are still having trouble building up stock of their jazz guitars.
Two new stars have arrived from Dana Bourgeois, I don’t know which I like best! The Dana Bourgeois Signature dreadnought has the most amazing bass I’ve ever heard, the BK, modelled on Byran Sutton’s guitar also has amazing bass and the legendary versatility of Dana’s slope Ds. On this occasion I am glad to be a mandolinist and not have to chose. The Dana Bourgeois Signature dreadnought and a sitka mahogany OM have gone to Acoustic Magazine fir a review, though I expect the DB will sell before the review is out.
