Mandolin News.
A few months ago I got an email from Rick at Weber with a new idea for a black finish from Bret, Bruce’s finish genius. He said it was kinda black to greyish… and that it would work brilliantly on an amazing piece of quilted maple he had… Being an impulsive kind of fellow I said lets go with it. Between the three of us we dreamed up the Gallatin Black Beauty. Its here and it is truly gorgeous to use my favourite cliché yet again it sounds as good as it looks..
Our fifth Flinthills has arrived and it proves that Mark is consistently amazing, it’s a tad brighter than my A4 but I’ve been playing mine for six months now so that’s what you would expect. With a pumpkin top, chestnut brown flamed maple back and rosewood bindings with single white pinstripe its quite a looker too.
Five used mandolins in to greet the new year, all great deals for the budget conscious, an Epi with fishman for £149, octave for £175, Eastman or Lebeda for the bluegrassers and a Buchannan for the folkies.
The four Old Waves with different back and sides woods have now been reviewed by Simon Mayor for Acoustic Magazine. I don’t know which issue the review will be in yet. I have edited the website descriptions to be a mix of his original comments and the review.

Guitar News.
Just some new tiddlers from K. Yairi to greet the new year. These guys really seem to have a handle on making small guitars, the Rag 65 produces more tone and volume than it has a right too. They all have immaculate finishing and do what a quality parlour or small bodied guitar should, unlike some of the pale imitations around.
As I mentioned in the last update we are very well stocked with Goodall, Bourgeois, Weber and Brook, we also have four used from Taylor and Martin (each) plus Bourgeois, Olson, Bown, Breedlove and many more. So if you’ve been thinking of a trip to the south cost get on that bus!!
| K. Yairi G1F | Guitar | £749 |
| K. Yairi Rag 65 G | Guitar | £849 |
| K. Yairi YF20NY | Guitar | £895 |
Happy pickin’
Trevor
