Mandolin News.
I’ve finally got the Great Mandolin Woods Experiment complete. Comments on the four as near as possible identical (tops from the same tree) A4 mandolins made by Bill Bussman/Old Wave with back and sides in Walnut, Mahogany, Rosewood and Maple from Simon Mayor and Dan Beimborn are on the website. The Walnut has sold, the other three still available.
We’ve now got four amazing mandolins from Audey Ratliff and a couple more on the way. I’ve known of Audey for many years, I can’t believe I didn’t get in touch sooner. These are great mandolins at great prices. I know I rave a lot about A4 mandos with lots of bass and sustain but these are really amazing. I was getting excited about Flinthills a while back, and I still have mine, another just arrived, I’d put them on a par, its hard to choose between the two.
In the vintage/used neck of the woods we have a fantastic 1908 Gibson three point F2. The three pointers don’t all sound great but this is the best I’ve heard, loud and full. Used Capeks don’t usually hang around long, this F4 professional is £445 off the current new price and they will be going up as new stock arrives so it’s a great bargain. We’ve also got a beautiful Hoyer guitar bodied mandolin and a Fylde Octavious octave mandolin.

Guitar News.
Only one new guitar in this time ‘tis another K. Yairi. We’ve been so impressed with their smaller guitars we’ve now got four in stock, I continue to be amazed with how many quarts these guys can fit into a pint pot, great workmanship and fantastic tone. We have now sold out of Brook guitars at £1695, but all our stock is at £1775, £90 less than list price, twelve in stock.
No less than ten used guitars! .. kinda, we’ve had two of lance McCollum’s very fine guitars for a few years now so we are selling them used at amazing prices, grab one quick. Eight others from eight different makers, time to get that train, plane or automobile and get down to Brighton.
