The Garrison mandolin models have finally arrived, they are as good as the octave/mandolas, all solid woods, great tone and starting at £425 (yes octave/mandola and mandolins are the same price for the same spec), amazing value.
I’ve got another Gibson Snakehead mandolin on its way, haven’t seen or heard it yet but I got it at a good price so it should be a snip at under two grand. Also on its way is a Rigel I-110. Pete only made two of these, I enquired about them at the time, but I’ve now managed to pick this one up. Can’t wait to get it. Regular visitors will know that I like to test the conventions and traditions of mandolin making (four A4s from Bill Bussman due in the new year, in walnut, rosewood, maple and mahogany to test the maple convention). The I-110 was christened the Roswell because it looks like the classic Roswell alien. If you can’t imagine that you will have to wait to see a photo on the next download. I may well keep it but I will post it anyways.
Talking of unusual I also have a mandolin on the way that has three sound holes on the top and three on the side!! An hour after I phoned to get this one David Grisman (yes the ‘Dawg’ himself) phoned wanting to buy it!! Having been good recently about not keeping too many at home I am having serious MAS (mandolin acquisition syndrome) again, help…
Another Washburn mandolin has come in, it sounds a good as the last one but isn’t in as good condition but comes with pickup, so it’s a great deal for someone who wants to get started and plug in. At the other end of the price range is Bruce Taggart’s F5. I had heard of Bruce’s reputation and am very pleased to have this amazing bluegrass cannon.
Droning on again about great value the Lebeda A4 premium is £250 off the new price!!

The Bourgeois DB signature and OM std have now been reviewed for Acoustic Magazine. I don’t have a publication date yet but watch this space. As predicted in the last news the DB has sold but I have another on order. With Dana’s consistency I expect it will be as amazing the reviewed guitar.
We’ve added two more to our Lakewood stock (and there’s a used Lakewood M-32cp on its way). These are fantastic value for money, great build quality, all solid woods and great tone.
We’ve got two Brook guitars back in stock, eight now on the wall, next delivery not due until March. They have gone up to £1780, we still have a few at last years prices of £1595, all the rest at £1695 including the March delivery, a good time to buy!!
This may be the last update before Christmas and New Year, have a good un’ but please don’t neglect your instruments, when the goin’ get tough do some pickin’.
Trevor
