Triggs Mandolins
Sole luthier bluegrass mandolins from £5400 Jim Triggs is an expert on the Lloyd Loar F5 mandolin. Having studied over thirty of them in great detail he is widely recognised as a leading world authority. He says “When you’ve been in a room with nine Loar F-5’s at one time, you kind of get the idea of what they were trying to accomplish back then,” Many say that Jim’s amazing mandolins are as close to ‘the Loar sound’ as it is possible to get. Jim’s luthiery career started over twenty five years ago. He worked at Gibson for six years and was intimately involved in the Gibson Sam Bush mandolin. He has made mandolins for some of the best known players; Sam Bush, Doyle Lawson, Janice Gill, Byron Berline, Joe Carr, Josh Pinkham, Chris Hillman, Roland White, and Wayne Benson. |

Triggs F5
Bluegrass heaven!! The term Banjo killer is over used, it should have been saved for this Triggs F5. I have been deafened by a few mandolins in our small playing room in the past but this one has the same effect in the main area of the shop. It has the kind of chop that is both loud and musical, it plays beautifully from the lowest g right up the fretboard with fantastic balance and clarity. This is the last from Jim with the flowerpot inlay because Gibson have asked him to stop using it.£ 3,995.00
