Heiden
Hand made, sole luthier mandolins from £6000. I had played a couple of Heidens over the years and thought them the best I had heard. Michael is rated alongside Gilchrist, Dudenbostel, Nugget and Monteleone. He is one the legendary mandolin luthiers of our time. There has been great excitement recently about John Reischman’s new Heiden mandolin. I still can’t remember where I got the notion but I followed a hunch, took a chance and gave Michael a call. To my delight, amazement and astonishment he agreed to send three mandolins across the pond. |

Heiden F standard SOLD
SoldAnother stunning F5 from Michael, it has a red spruce top, beautiful one piece sugar maple back and sugar maple sides. Finished with a buffed varnish topcoat, abalone headstock inlay, ivoroid top and back binding and a radiussed Ebony fretboard that is twenty eight millimetres at the bone nut and has twenty one medium frets. Nickel James engraved tailpiece, Ebony finger rest/pick guard and an Ebony bridge. With hard case.
This is a true cannon. It has incredible volume, projection and clarity AND richness, depth and resonance. It takes a great luthier to get these qualities in the same instrument. It will chop and bark for the bluegrass player, howl for the blues man, sing sweet for the balladeer and respond willingly to any other style.

Heiden Heritage Used SOLD
SoldBeautiful heritage model from Michael. It has a 100 year old red spruce top and sugar maple back, sides and neck, Waverly tuners and a Calton case.
It has been on consignment somewhere else so its being sold as used but its never been owned or played outside a shop.
Its a tone monster. I have had quite a few amazing mandolins from Michael, this one (as usual) is truly incredible. From banjo assassination to the sweetest lullaby, it has it all.. and the playability is second to none.
