Sergei de Jonge Acoustic Guitars

Sergei de Jonge is someone I have heard about for a long time. My technician trained with him and has been telling me for many years that he is one of the best. On his visit I found out what the fuss was about and immediately bought TAMCO’s first guitar from him.

Sergei met Jean Larrivee in the early 1970s and made his first guitar then, working also with Grit Laskin. He set up his own workshop in 1972 and has been making guitars - with a few breaks - ever since. He now works from a workshop in a beautiful setting in rural Quebec with the help of his six offspring as and when they are free or around.

A customer put some light scratches on this beauty then I dropped a box against it!! See photos. Reduced by £2400 from £6395 to £3995 this is a bargain.

Local legend Terry Lees was the first to play this beautiful guitar from Sergei. I've known Terry for a while and I know when its his kind of guitar within a few bars, he digs in and goes for it.

He's playing as a write and I hear immense power an depth when he's digging in and beautiful warm sweet tones when the mood changes.

You may think a zirizote guitar is going to be heavy (as in weight not 'that's heavy man') but in Serge's expert hands this is not the case. This is a light and responsive, wonderful guitar with fantastic playability and expression.

An incredibly beautiful guitar from Sergei, and incredible sound. Its warm and full with outstanding balance. As I keep saying only the very best luthiers can combine tonal qualities that to lesser mortals would be mutually exclusive. To get this level of warmth with great separation, clarity and attack is a remarkable achievement.
