Mike Baranik Acoustic Guitars

Mike is a wonderful acoustic guitar maker. I met him in LA in January 2003 in a room full of luthiers I had been dying to meet. Most of them were among the most well known contemporary American luthiers. I had never heard of Mike at the time. I played a lot of great guitars that day but kept coming back to the Baraniks.

I've had the privilege to meet some of the finest luthiers around since I started TAMCO and to play some of the finest acoustic guitars being made today but I haven't played many that have excited me as much as these acoustic guitars and aesthetic works of art. Mike mixes the great traditions of acoustic guitar luthery with some ideas of his own, all bodies are asymmetrical for comfort but you wouldn't notice, bracing patterns are his own too. Mike says that he likes to make his acoustic guitars look as good as they sound, say no more!

Another stunning manchinga guitar from Mike, take a look at the detailing... With his unique adjustable action via the heel strap button and very comfortable scalloped cutaway its a breeze to play (note, no reference to butter).

Of course this is all secondary to great sound. It has remarkable clarity, separation and projection without missing an beat in the warmth and resonance departments, the basses are well defined and full, the mids complex and rewarding and the trebles strong and well defined.

Very lightly used with two small dings on the top, too light to photograph and some varnish wear.

This really is the bee's knees. Its the fifth Parlour Retreaux I've had from Mike. The figured Bubinga is the most spectacular I've seen. The tone is very warm with fantastic depth.
