Sexauer Guitars

I met Bruce in LA in two thousand and two. I haven’t forgotten him or his guitars since. When I contacted him he had forgotten me but then there wasn’t much for him to remember as TAMCO was in its early days.

Bruce hails from Oakland California. He began playing guitar at the age of seventeen and soon built his first guitar in a quest for a better instrument than he could afford. Bruce is a ‘sole luthier’.. its all his own work. He believes that’s the only way to reach the levels of workmanship he strives for (and achieves).

Bruce is thought of by many as the leader in pre-war Martin reproductions.. he has been Eric Schoenberg’s primary luthier for over a decade. But he is also an accomplished innovator with his multi-scale asymmetrical guitars.
We are honoured to be Bruce’s only European representative.

    Workshop visit

It was great to visit with Bruce at his Petaluma CA workshop. He showed me his amazing collection of tone woods and enlightened me more on one of my pet theories - light is good – referring to pre-war Martins and his work with Eric Schoenberg.

I now have a deeper understanding of the relationships between woods, bracing and weight. I was amazed and delighted at the lack of machinery, guitars don't come any more hand made than this.

  3. Sexauer FT 15 Italian spruce/Australian Blackwood

Sexauer FT 15 Italian spruce/Australian Blackwood

This is one of the lightest guitars we’ve had in. Light and lively is a cliché I might just use again but it describes this beautiful guitar well. It leaps into you hands and exudes expression. It is immediate and responsive with remarkable separation and balance.
