Burton LeGeyt Guitars

Burton LeGeyt Guitars

I am delighted to be representing Burton Legyt.

Burton has been building steel string guitars out of his workshop on a quiet side street in Boston, MA since 2005. He began by building instruments that were of a personal interest to him with features not readily available on the open market. Soon after building his first acoustic guitar he realized that it was the instrument he wanted to focus on exclusively.

Burton values balance and an inherent musicality in his instruments above all else. All LeGeyt guitars have an immediacy and evenness to the response all the way up the neck. He wants the transition from the players mind and hands to be as transparent as possible through the instrument and out into the surrounding space. Burton values crafting a guitar that instinctively wants to be played as one of the most important goals in his work.

With a background in the visual arts he enjoys designing each instrument to make a cohesive visual statement as well as being an inspirational musical tool for its owner. An interest in specialized tooling and experience in modern fabrication techniques allows him to customize certain parts of the instrument. He feels that this ability allows for a more complete individuality to the finished instrument both tonally and visually.

I liked the tone of the last CLM from Burton so much that I asked him to make this one as close as possible. This is another example of why mahogany is so popular, its been one of my favourite back and side woods for a long while now.

Its another very light and responsive guitar with wonderful warm and sweet mahogany tones, full and rich bass notes, sweet and complex mids and clear, well defined trebles. And some stunning flamed mahogany with Burton's signature black neck, what a beauty.

My first guitar from Burton and what a stunner. Its light and very responsive with fantastic playability, feeling like a much smaller guitar. I'm becoming more of a mahogany fan recently and this is an example of why, it has great projection and perfect balance with a great deal of warmth along with very good definition all the way up to the top fret which is easily reached with the beautifully executed scalloped cutaway. My kind of guitar..
