James Goodall Guitars James Goodall is now back in California after spending many years building his spectacular guitars in Hawaii. In his youth he counted Kim and Larry Breedlove, Geoff Stelling and Greg Deering among his friends, they all went in different directions to make excellent musical instruments. In 1972 James made his first guitar and has not looked back since. With only ten people working in the workshop he has a hand in the making of every instrument. He says "I want every Guitar to come out as if I had made it myself. I want it to be perfect." Of course Hawaii is the only place that Koa grows so James has access to small quantities of AAA and AAAA woods. You can choose which grade of woods are used and be sure that James' unrivalled attention to detail will lead to a masterpiece both cosmetically and in tone. All woods whether they are Koa, Maple, Rosewood, Walnut or top woods are hand selected by James. All bindings are natural materials. Great attention is given to voicing each individual instrument. James doesn't believe that scalloped bracing is the way to go, instead he uses a light bridge and graduates the top, and this results in clarity of tone throughout the tonal range that has to be heard to be believed. These are some of finest guitars available today. |

Goodall Concert Jumbo sitka/rosewood SOLD
Reduced by £100 (was £3795 ) due to a mark on the top below the bridge near the edge, caused by an idiot who dropped something on it... !!!****!!! I have tried to photograph it without success, its about 12mm long, then a shorter and shallower one below.
Classic Goodall tone, amazing complexity and depth with great separation and projection. A bit bigger than the Grand concert this is a very versatile guitar, it responds fantastically to flat-pick, fingerstyle or any other style.

Goodall Standard Sitka/Rosewood
SOLD. Next one due 2011. £3595.
James's standard is a variation on the Dreadnought with a slightly more rounded body shape. A more versatile guitar could not be imagined, its got enough bass to satisfy the hardest driving flat-picker but with well defined middles and trebles, fantastic clarity, separation and balance and enough volume to be heard in any situation but play it gently and the response is there. Its a beauty too, take a look at those curly Koa bindings.

Goodall Traditional OM Rosewood/Bearclaw Sitka SOLD
This beautiful OM from James Goodall has the most spectacular bearclaw spruce top I have ever seen! James has exceeded his usual standards with this one. It has a depth of tone that shouldn't come out of a relatively small body, rich and sweet but well balanced with good definition and plenty of volume.
