Ehlers Small workshop guitars from £3695 Rob Ehlers started making guitars in Santa Monica in 1968. Moving to Portland, Oregon in 1971 and now working in Mexico, Rob has gained a reputation and following for his outstanding detailing and use of old woods. These are incredible value sole luthier guitars. He developed his celebrated model 15, with a 15 1/2" lower bout in the nineteen seventies when all around were making dreadnoughts, OOs and OOOs. The 15 is now a superlative fingerstylists guitar, he turns out a spectacular dreadnought too... |

Ehlers parlour cedar/AAAAA Indian rosewood
Rob said his parlour was one of his favourites so I took his word for it. Now I know why, it's little and large.. in size and sound that is. It should be illegal to get this much well defined, sweet and dark tone from such a small guitar.

Ehlers Fifteen Adirondack/Rosewood
Rob's signature model fifteen in beautifully even grained Adirondack and Rosewood with rope purfling, Koa bindings, abalone rosette and a Koa one piece neck. This is stunning and a fingerstylists dream. It has an incredibly even response with balance and clarity across the tonal range, it also has great projection and depth of tone, perfect for fingerstyle but with the response for more robust approaches.

Ehlers Blacktop Sixteen Adirondack/Quilted mahogany
I often get excited about classy looking guitars but this is beyond words It has a very woody tone with full basses, rich and warm mids complemented by sparkling well defined trebles. It's a largish guitar but very versatile, a monster strummer but responds well to gentle fingerstyle.
