Ed Claxton Guitars

Ed Claxton is a legend in contemporary guitar making. He is a self-taught luthier whose career has spanned more than four decades, specialising in building several steel string and classical guitar models, each available in various configurations to suit a broad range of musical styles and playing techniques. He uses traditional glues, finishes, and building techniques and tries to maintain an understated, timeless design aesthetic. He has recently moved his production to his new home based studio where he continues to produce a limited number of instruments per year. He lives with his wife Margie in Santa Cruz, California and their faithful dog Rosie.

The work of a legend in contemporary guitar making and proof of how Ed achieved that status. This is an exceptional guitar. The workmanship and detailing is flawless. The tone is heavenly.

As I have mentioned before it takes years of hard won experience to achieve acoustic qualities that might otherwise be thought of as to some extent mutually exclusive. This amazing guitar has warmth, resonance and richness of tone with remarkable clarity from the fat, well defined bass to the fullest trebles I've heard. I would put it against any guitar I've ever played for balance and evenness of tone. A truly great guitar.
